They were primarily used in freight service. Between 2000 and 2004, several locomotives were in service as leased vehicles for the Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois. There, among other things, they were used to haul scrap trains from Bettembourg to Ehrang near Trier. This history makes the model particularly appealing to model railroaders who wish to depict cross-border freight transport and the use of modern private railway rolling stock.
