Description

Bemo 1014807 H0e Steam locomotive E. 12 "Oberstenfeld", K.W.St.E., Era I

The Bemo 1014807 H0e steam locomotive E. 12 "Oberstenfeld" is a detailed replica of the Württemberg Klose locomotive Tss 4 in the design of the Royal Württemberg State Railways (K.W.St.E.) during Era I. This finished model enables model railroad enthusiasts to authentically represent historical narrow gauge operation on their layouts.

The prototype of the Tss 4

The Tss 4 was built in 1894 by Maschinenfabrik Esslingen for the Bottwartalbahn. These four-couplers were the first narrow-gauge locomotives with 750 mm track gauge in Württemberg. They had a special drive unit, developed by senior engineer Adolph Klose, which enabled radial adjustment of the axles. Despite this innovation, the engine proved to be high-maintenance, which led to its withdrawal from service in the 1920s.

The Royal Württemberg State Railways (K.W.St.E.) in Era I

Era I (1835-1920) was characterized by the emergence and development of railroads in Germany. During this period, the K.W.St.E. operated an extensive network of narrow-gauge lines on which locomotives such as the Tss 4 were used. Locomotive 12 "Oberstenfeld" was one of the best-known locomotives of this class.
