Are you looking for a piece of living narrow gauge history for your H0e layout? The Bemo VL 22 from the Steiermärkische Landesbahnen is bringing one of the best-known Austrian diesel locomotives to the model tracks with this new 2026 model - authentic, powerful and richly detailed in condition up to around 2023.
The VL 22 was originally delivered to the Yugoslavian state railroad in 1968 as locomotive 740-023. In 1980, together with VL 23, it found its way to the Styrian State Railways (StLB), where it was first used on the Thörlerbahn and then on the Feistritztalbahn for freight traffic. In 1995, it received a more powerful MTU engine and the modern red livery of the StLB. It has been based in the Mur Valley since 2014 and is used there for work and freight trains - a versatile locomotive with an eventful history.
The model version shows the locomotive in its condition up to approx. 2023 - i.e. without the switch box and fire extinguisher box added later on the short front end. This makes it ideally suited for authentic Era V and early Era VI operation scenarios on Austrian narrow gauge lines.
The model impresses with a robust die-cast chassis, drive and power consumption across all four axles and a powerful 5-pole motor. LED headlights in the direction of travel and digitally switchable driver's cab lighting ensure atmospheric operation. The Next18 digital interface is prepared for sound decoders. Numerous added details such as grab rails, steps and prototypical buffer beams round off the appearance.
With the Bemo VL 22 you get a powerful workhorse with a regional character on your H0e tracks. A must for model railroaders with an interest in Austrian railroad history - order now!
