Modernization with character - refit for the Alpine train

As part of a comprehensive refit programme, the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway (MGB) modernized its HGe 4/4 II locomotives from 2021. Locomotive 105, originally from the FO series, was given new main components, a revised design with LED headlights and a modern air conditioning unit between the bogies. Technically up to date, it remains a visual highlight - especially thanks to its exclusive Glacier Express livery.

Technology for mountain use - with functional rack and pinion drive

The model is fully rack and pinion-compatible (Abt system) and has a robust die-cast chassis. All four axles are driven by a powerful 5-pole motor. For flexibility on the layout, the locomotive can be converted to H0e - but then without rack and pinion function.

Digital and full of detail - with sound & light

Equipped with an ESU locomotive sound decoder, the model offers true-to-original sounds. LED headlights in the direction of travel and digitally switchable driver's cab lighting ensure atmospheric operation. Brake hoses, heating couplings and grab irons are included for self-assembly - for maximum customization.
