Description

Introduction

The Bemo 1662256 H0 electric locomotive "Glacier Express" HGe 4/4 II 106 of the MGB, Era VI is an impressive model of a powerful cogwheel locomotive that combines technology, history and tourist significance. The locomotive is in the service of the world-famous Glacier Express and at the same time symbolizes the long tradition of Swiss rail transport in the Alps. It appears here in the DC version for analog H0 layouts, with modern LED lighting and a prepared digital interface for future upgrades.

Design & workmanship

The locomotive impresses with its high-quality design in the typical "Glacier Express" design with clear colors, razor-sharp lettering and faithful reproduction of the original. The roof equipment, fine engravings and applied details are evidence of high model-making skill. The LED top lighting with white light change is a functional and visual highlight - in the style of the current MGB fleet.

Technical features & special functions

The model has an analog design, but is equipped with a Next18 digital interface (NEM 662). This means that it can be easily converted to digital operation if required. The LED lighting, which is dependent on the direction of travel, provides a realistic representation of driving operation. The precise running gear offers smooth running and reliable current consumption - ideal for demanding model railroaders in the DC range.

Historical background

The HGe 4/4 II 106 was originally operated by the BVZ and is now part of the Matterhorn-Gotthard Railway (MGB) fleet. These locomotives are specially designed for combined adhesion and rack-and-pinion operation and are among the most powerful of their kind in the narrow-gauge sector. In addition to its role on the Glacier Express, it has also been involved in cultural projects such as the design of the "Matterhorn Story " - a unique open-air spectacle that commemorates the first ascent of the Matterhorn and focuses on the development of the region for tourism.

Compatibility & expansion options

The locomotive is compatible with all standard H0 DC layouts and is ideal for combining with Glacier Express cars or other MGB vehicles. With a minimum radius of 360 mm, it is primarily designed for medium-sized and larger layouts. The in-house coupler pocket allows easy connection to other Bemo vehicles.
