Conversion Instead of Retirement—The Rebirth of the Gb Series

As early as 1995, the Rhaetian Railway began converting its Gb 5001–5100 series into carrier cars for swap bodies. The resulting Lb-v 7851–7886 series was used flexibly from the start: with mail containers, refrigerated containers, dump containers, or conventional containers—depending on the need.
