Current prototype from modern RhB freight transport

The prototype for this car represents an exciting development in the Rhaetian Railway’s fleet. In 2020, the Volg sliding-wall car Haiqq-tuyz 5175 was stripped of its superstructure and converted into a container car Sb-v 65693. It was fitted with a newly acquired, permanently installed Y 11623 climate-controlled container. As early as 2021, three additional sliding-wall cars—5173, 5174, and 5176—followed, which were also converted into climate-controlled container cars. These four cars of the first series, Sb-v 65691–94, were fitted with advertising posters for Volg merchandise transport and retained their continuous heating coupling line.

In 2024 and 2025, six additional sliding-wall cars—5171–5172, 5162–5164, and 5169—followed. They were converted to the Sb 65611–16 series. The through-running heating line was removed from these cars, as can be seen from the different platform railings. The Y 11625–30 containers also exhibit minor differences in detail compared to the first four. With Coop and Repower, additional companies were secured as advertising partners for this second series of cars. This resulted in a modern and eye-catching fleet of vehicles that makes today’s freight transport on the RhB particularly interesting.

Distinctive car with a Coop container

The container car Sb 65615 carries the climate-controlled container Y 11629 in the current Coop design. The Coop Cooperative has updated the locomotive livery of the Ge 4/4 III 641—which has been promoting one of Switzerland’s largest retail and wholesale companies since 1999—for the fourth time. Shortly before Easter, it was redesigned in the style of modern locomotives such as the Stadler Euro 9000 or Siemens Vectron, using the three logo colors. The refrigerated container Y 11629 has also featured this eye-catching design since the summer of 2025. It was loaded onto the resulting carrier car Sb 65615 following the conversion of the sliding-wall car Haiqq-tyz 5164. It is precisely this modern and striking appearance that makes the car a real eye-catcher on the model railroad.
