Bemo 3002821 passenger car KBi 2. Klasse 731 Product Details

Description

The first narrow-gauge train of the Königlich Württembergische Staats-Eisenbahnen (Royal Württemberg State Railways) steamed along meter-gauge tracks from Nagold to Altensteig in 1891. In the following years, the K.W.St.E. opened the Bottwartalbahn Marbach-Heilbronn Süd, the Zabergäubahn Lauffen-Leonbronn and the two Upper Swabian railroads Schussenried-Riedlingen and Biberach-Ochsenhausen - all with a track gauge of 750 mm. Initially, the K.W.St.E. relied on various steam locomotive designs with Klose engines. The Tssd mallet locomotives, also supplied by Maschinenfabrik Esslingen, followed between 1898 and 1913. These and some sä. VI K from Saxony dominated the scene for a long time. Even the five V51/V52 diesel locomotives for 750 mm or meter gauge delivered by Gmeinder in 1964 could not prevent the decline of the romantic railroads in Upper Swabia, the Neckar Valley and the Black Forest: In the mid to late 1960s, the five DB narrow-gauge railroads in Württemberg came to an end; only freight traffic on the "Öchsle" remained until 1983. An attractive museum operation was established on what was once the last DB narrow-gauge railroad on the mainland.
