The model: In order to create a direct connection from Montreux to Interlaken that works without changing trains, this new line was opened in December 2022. A number of fundamental problems had to be solved, which were the reason why such a direct connection, without changing trains, had not existed for longer. One of these problems was that different tracks are used in the two towns. If you start your journey in Montreux, it starts on narrow-gauge meter tracks and ends in Interlaken on a standard track. As a traveler, you not only get a view of beautiful Switzerland, but also of a technically impressive facility, the gauge change station halfway along the line in Zweisimmen. In this station, the wagons are converted for the corresponding tracks at slow speed. At the same time, the carriage bodies are raised due to deviating platform heights. In addition, an interface wagon and a BLS Re 465 electric locomotive are added to the train set for the section from Zweisimmen to Interlaken. The locomotive is used for propulsion on the standard-gauge tracks, while the interface car has the different couplings for the electric locomotive and the narrow-gauge cab control car so that they can be coupled together.
About the model: Bemo does justice to this special prototype by producing the locomotive and passenger carriages used, both as H0m variants, but also as H0 AC and DC variants. In H0 gauge, the interface car is also available as a DC and AC version. This MOB As 191 panorama car is part of the AC train set and is a real eye-catcher with its shape and paint scheme based on the original. It also has a fully equipped interior and is already prepared for the installation of interior lighting.
