The first units of the Stadler-built RTZ multiple-unit trains have been in scheduled service since summer 2020. The largest procurement of rolling stock in the history of the RhB, with 56 four-car ABe 4/16 3111-3166 "Capricorn" (Rhaeto-Romanic for ibex) winged multiple units, will revolutionize operations on the Graubünden metre-gauge railroad to an unprecedented extent and enable half-hourly services on the main network. On the first Rhine Valley-Engadine line, the "Capricorn" trains starting in Landquart will run together as far as Klosters, where they will be separated for the onward journey to Davos Platz or via Vereina to St. Moritz, or combined in the opposite direction. Further services in the direction of Surselva via Chur to Disentis and between Davos and Filisur will follow as delivery of the trains progresses. Thanks to automatic couplings, this wing train concept saves train paths, offers optimal connections and increases travel comfort with rolling stock suitable for the disabled. The 120 km/h meter gauge trains consist of a motor coach and two middle coaches with a total of 129 seats in 2nd class and multifunctional compartments. The driving trailer offers 35 seats in 1st class.
Train 3133, with its "champagne" design, was christened "Piz Palü" at a ceremony on 25 November 2021 as the 500th coach body manufactured for RhB in Altenrhein since 1960. This train is the first with free Wi-Fi. All previously delivered trains will be retrofitted with this feature.
