The Brawa 40681 H0 diesel locomotive 236 118-6 combines historical authenticity with the latest digital and sound technology. The model shows the diesel locomotive in service with the VTG in Era IV and is equipped with a high-quality sound decoder and extensive lighting functions. The prototypical detailing and excellent running characteristics make this locomotive a highlight on any H0 model railway layout.
The V36, also known as the WR 360 C 14, was originally developed for military use to provide smoke-free locomotives for Wehrmacht railroad systems. After the Second World War, many of these locomotives were taken over by the German Federal Railways and private industrial companies. VTG used the class 236 primarily in shunting service and in front of transfer trains.
Technical developments such as larger cooling water expansion tanks and adjustable radiator blinds made the locomotives extremely versatile. They remained in active service until 1981 and can still be seen on museum railroads today.
The model impresses with its precise detailing: an etched radiator guard, free-standing grab rails and finely crafted steps ensure a realistic appearance. The driver's cab offers an unobstructed view and has been equipped in line with the prototype. The frame and wheels are made of robust metal, while the body is made of high-quality plastic. This gives the locomotive stability and an authentic look.
The maintenance-free LEDs ensure a prototypical light change between red and white. In the digital version, the locomotive offers additional lighting functions, including shunting light, driver's cab lighting and individually switchable tail lights. Thanks to the stabilized 5V power supply, the light remains flicker-free even if the power supply fluctuates.
The model is equipped with a state-of-the-art sound decoder from Döhler & Haass. The sounds specific to the construction series, including engine noises and typical shunting sounds, are reproduced realistically using 16-bit technology with up to 8 independent channels. The locomotive is compatible with all common digital systems such as DCC, Motorola, SX1 and SX2. The enclosed locomotive card facilitates operation in Mfx mode.
The three-point bearing ensures excellent running characteristics, even on uneven track. The locomotive is designed for a minimum radius of 360 mm and is therefore also suitable for compact layouts. The remote-controlled electric coupler in the NEM shaft enables flexible and simple coupling, which is particularly advantageous in shunting operations.
The model combines historical precision with modern technology. The high-quality workmanship, the series-specific sound and the digital control make the Brawa 40681 an ideal choice for model railroaders who value authentic details and technical refinements.
The locomotive requires only minimal maintenance. The maintenance-free LEDs and the robust construction ensure a long service life. It is recommended that the wheels, couplings and running gear are cleaned regularly to ensure optimum running characteristics. The sound decoder and the digital functions are maintenance-free.
The Brawa 40681 H0 diesel locomotive 236 118-6 is a successful realization of the 236 series and impresses with its prototypical design and extensive digital functions. Whether in shunting service or in front of transfer trains - this model will be an eye-catcher on any H0 layout.
