The Brawa 40879 H0 steam locomotive class 57.10 is a detailed replica of the former Prussian G10, which was used as the class 57 on the German Federal Railroad (DB) in Era III. With a built-in sound decoder, realistic light changes and preparation for a smoke generator, this model brings the atmosphere of the 1950s directly to your H0 model railway layout.
After the Second World War, many G10 locomotives were lost or damaged. Nevertheless, the German Federal Railroad still had 485 operational locomotives in 1952. As in the Reichsbahn era, the BR 57 was used on lines with a lighter superstructure and was increasingly used for shunting. It was used in the shunting yards of Basel (Haltingen depot) and Hagen as well as on the Moselle line at the Cochem depot, where it pushed trains up the gradients.
At the beginning of the 1950s, the locomotive was also used on the Black Forest Railway in Hausach and took over local freight transport in many conurbations. While the BR 50 was reserved for higher-value transportation tasks, the BR 57 proved its versatility and reliability as a robust workhorse.
The model is largely made of metal and impresses with its high stability and durability. The precise printing and paintwork, the realistically designed running gear and the detailed add-on parts make this locomotive a highlight of model making. The close coupling kinematics in the NEM coupling shaft ensure flexible coupling and smooth operation.
The model has maintenance-free LEDs that provide a prototypical light change with three-light headlights. The lighting changes depending on the direction of travel and enhances the authentic effect of the model. The interior lighting makes the driver's cab an eye-catcher even in the dark. The PluX22 interface enables simple integration into digital systems.
The integrated sound decoder from Döhler & Haass offers an impressive acoustic experience. The realistic steam locomotive sounds are generated using 16-bit technology and include the hissing of steam, horns and shunting noises. The locomotive is compatible with all common digital systems, including Mfx and DCC, and comes with a locomotive card to simplify operation.
The locomotive is designed for operation on a minimum radius of 360 mm, although a radius of 420 mm is recommended for optimum driving characteristics. The four traction tires guarantee excellent grip, even with heavy trains. The built-in flywheel mass ensures smooth starting and realistic acceleration. The model is also prepared for the installation of a Seuthe No. 20 smoke generator, which perfectly complements the steam experience.
With its high-quality workmanship, realistic sound and the possibility of individual expansion, the Brawa 40879 BR 57.10 is a must for every model railroader. Whether in shunting service or in front of long freight trains - this locomotive offers an impressive overall experience and authentically reflects the post-war era of the German Federal Railroad.
The robust construction and maintenance-free LEDs ensure a long service life. The running gear and wheels should be cleaned regularly to ensure optimum running characteristics. The smoke generator should also be checked regularly to ensure a long-lasting steam experience.
The Brawa 40879 H0 steam locomotive BR 57.10 combines historical accuracy with modern digital technology. Its realistic sound, high-quality workmanship and the possibility of individual expansion make it the perfect addition to any H0 model railway layout.
