The Brawa 40980 steam locomotive 001 168-4 brings one of the most legendary express locomotives in German railroad history to your H0 layout in the appearance of the German Federal Railroad. The locomotive belongs to the famous class 01, which was developed in the 1920s and quickly attained the status of the "German express train locomotive par excellence". In Era IV, the class received its new EDP-compliant road number as well as numerous technical modernizations - perfectly captured in this finely detailed model from Brawa.
The model impresses with meticulously implemented details, such as individually attached steps and steps, a faithful reproduction of the standing boiler rear wall and the openwork bar frame. The filigree metal driving and coupling rods and the true-to-scale driver's cab reflect the faithfulness to the prototype that characterizes Brawa models. The DB lettering in the style of Era IV is very sharp and rounds off the appearance perfectly.
The drive in the tender ensures excellent traction and smooth running characteristics, supported by the robust metal single axle bearings. If required, the model can be retrofitted with a digital decoder via the PluX22 interface. It therefore offers maximum flexibility for classic DC users and digital railroaders alike.
The 001 168-4 locomotive comes from the famous 01 series, which originated in the 1920s. Originally supplied by Borsig and AEG, the class 01 developed into the most widely used express train locomotive of the DRG and later the DB. In Era IV, the locomotives were renamed "001" and partially modernized. The locomotive shown here is an example of this transitional period between tradition and technical development in DB long-distance transportation.
With its direct current drive, the model is ideally suited for all classic H0 track systems with a minimum radius of 360 mm. Thanks to the PluX22 interface, the model can be easily digitized. The standard coupler with sliding guide ensures realistic car spacing and reliable operation - ideal in combination with Era IV express train cars.
