Description

The TWINDEXX Vario IC double-decker center car is a Deutsche Bahn AG design and is from Era VI. It is intended as a supplement to the car set with the BRAWA order no. 44507. All further details about this model can be found under the features.

About the prototype: Intercity 2 (IC 2) is the new name for the TWINDEXX-Vario® trains used by DB Fernverkehr since the timetable change on December 13, 2015. The TWINDEXX-Vario® is a further development of the tried-and-tested double-decker platform from Görlitz. Each train has 468 seats, 70 of which are in 1st class, as well as 10 bicycle stands. The maximum permissible speed of the trains is 160 km/h. Back in 2010, Bombardier Transportation received an initial order for 27 five-car double-decker trains in combination with class 146.5 locomotives from a framework agreement concluded in advance with DB AG for a total of 800 double-decker coaches. In the meantime, 69 train units with a total of 328 individual coaches have been called off from this framework agreement.
