Extensive equipment in one set

The set consists of a control car and two 2nd class center cars, as used in the RE 3 regional express on the Hamburg Hbf route. The road numbers 50 80 86-73 501-8, 50 80 96-73 507-3 and 50 80 96-73 505-7 correspond exactly to the prototype. Thanks to the true-to-scale length of 1:87 and a total length over buffers of 919 mm, the impression of a real train is impressively recreated.

Lighting & digital functions

The cars are equipped with warm white LEDs and have separately switchable interior lighting. The control car also has illuminated train destination displays and an illuminated driver's cab. The red/white light changes automatically depending on the direction of travel. The train BUS function enables automatic recognition of the leading and last vehicles in digital operation, which allows realistic control of all lighting functions.

High-quality materials & attention to detail

The wagons are made of high-quality, impact-resistant plastic, supplemented by a metal base plate for optimum stability. Fine printing, extra windshield wipers, true-to-scale window frames and detailed bogies ensure that the overall impression is true to the original. The three-dimensional front design of the driving trailer is true to the original - including complete interior fittings right up to the driver's cab.

The prototype: comfort like in long-distance traffic

The TWINDEXX Vario® double-decker coaches, manufactured by Bombardier, were developed from 2010 for regional long-distance services with a comfort level close to that of the ICE. In reality, the coach trains consist of five sections and reach a maximum speed of 160 km/h. Metronom uses these modern vehicles on the busy route between Hamburg and the surrounding area - with a total of 468 seats and a spacious layout.
