Brawa 45492 H0 Compartment Car B3p DR, Era III Product Details

Description

Brawa 45492 H0 B3p Compartment Car, DR, Era III – Classic postwar DR car for sophisticated layouts

The Brawa 45492 B3p compartment car of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) reflects the typical conversion and maintenance measures of the postwar period in the Soviet Occupation Zone (SBZ) and the German Democratic Republic (GDR). With its authentic design, fine detailing, and provision for interior lighting, this H0 model is ideal for anyone who wants to add a realistic everyday car to their Era III layout.

Reconstruction Instead of New Construction—The DR Principle of the 1950s

Unlike the DB, the DR had to operate with severely limited resources in the Soviet Occupation Zone. Instead of extensive new construction, the focus was on refurbishing existing cars. This led to the creation of the so-called “Rekowagen,” in which older undercarriages were combined with new car bodies. This model replicates one of these typical B3p cars—with a reduced number of doors, sealed skylights, and a simplified structure to facilitate maintenance.

Authentic design and high-quality craftsmanship

The car features fine printing and paintwork, with numerous separately applied details such as handrails and vents. The interior is fully detailed, and the car is prepared for retrofitting with interior lighting—perfect for realistic scenes depicting both daytime and nighttime operations. The close-coupling mechanism ensures reliable operation, even on tight curves.

Ideal for typical GDR branch line scenarios

Whether at small rural stations or in mixed train formations with other postwar vehicles—the B3p car adds an important piece of East German railway history to any Era III layout. It is particularly well-suited for scenes featuring BR 38, BR 86, or early DR diesel railcars.
