The Brawa 46195 H0 passenger car C4üpwe "DER Ferienexpress" is a detailed reproduction of a classic express train car of the German Federal Railroad in Era III. This car offers a prototypical implementation with fine engravings, an elaborate interior and prototypical bogies. Its striking design with large windows, rubber bead transitions and riveted construction makes it a real highlight for historically authentic train compositions.
From the 1920s, the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft (DRG) began to significantly improve the comfort of its express and passenger trains. In addition to the familiar two-axle coaches, four-axle compartment coaches were increasingly used on long-distance lines. The testing of modern through coaches with open gangways from 1928 led to the series production of more than 1,000 coaches of this type. While the Second World War scattered many of these wagons all over Europe, numerous examples remained in service with the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) and Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) until the late 1970s.
In the 1950s and 1960s, these carriages were often used in express trains that were specially designed for vacationers. The "Ferienexpress" was a typical example of such trains, which transported families comfortably and inexpensively to their vacation destinations. The generous windows with lowered lower edges provided an excellent view of the passing landscape - a special experience for travelers long before high-speed trains dominated rail transport.
The Brawa 46195 impresses with a multitude of intricate details, including the precisely reproduced Görlitz III lightweight bogies with quadruple suspension, a complete reproduction of the braking system and a prototypical roof construction with riveted structures. The multi-part, multi-colored interior with individually designed seats ensures a particularly realistic representation of the historical prototype.
The model has a factory-fitted interior and is prepared for the installation of interior lighting(BRAWA order number 2212). The large windows and the detailed seating are particularly effective with retrofitted lighting. Thanks to the close coupling kinematics according to NEM, several cars can be coupled prototypically.
An AC wheel set (BRAWA order number 2188) is available for operation on AC systems. The car can also be equipped with an AC pick-up shoe (BRAWA order number 2222) in order to be able to use the interior lighting in AC systems as well.
With a length over buffers of 239.8 mm and a minimum radius of 360 mm, this car is ideal for use on all H0 layouts. The three-point bearings and the metal axle bearings ensure smooth and stable running characteristics, while the metal wheels provide a prototypical appearance.
The Brawa 46195 H0 C4üpwe "DER Ferienexpress" passenger car is a high-quality model that brings the history of the German Federal Railroad in the 1950s and 1960s to life. The high level of detail, the option of interior lighting and the prototypical bogies make this car a first-class choice for model railroaders who value authenticity.
