The Brawa 46205 H0 C4üpwe "DER Ferienexpress" passenger car is a precise reproduction of a historic German Federal Railroad (DB) passenger car from Era III. The car was part of the popular Ferienexpress that took vacationers to their vacation destinations in the 1950s and 1960s. With detailed AC lighting and a multitude of authentic details, this model is a perfect addition to any historic model railroad collection and offers a realistic representation of rail travel in Era III.
From the 1920s onwards, the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft (DRG ) increasingly focused on improving travel comfort on long-distance routes. The Ferienexpress was specially designed for organized vacation tourism and took passengers in comfort to the most beautiful vacation destinations in Germany and Europe. The coaches of the Ferienexpress were characterized by spacious windows, comfortable seating areas and a pleasant atmosphere that enabled passengers to enjoy a relaxed and comfortable journey. Even after the Second World War, the Ferienexpress remained an important part of German long-distance transportation.
The Brawa 46205 impresses with a multitude of fine details and excellent workmanship. The special features include the precisely reproduced Görlitz III lightweight bogies with quadruple suspension, the detailed frame with many attached individual parts and the reproduction of the roof rivets. The multi-colored interior with individual seats and the precisely fitted windows also contribute to the authenticity. The car is prepared for interior lighting, which can be optionally retrofitted to further refine the model and emphasize the atmosphere of the interior.
The model is equipped with integrated AC lighting, which illuminates the interior evenly and realistically. This ensures an authentic representation of the vacation express and highlights the details inside the car. The close coupling kinematics in accordance with NEM enable a safe and prototypical connection with other wagons, so that realistic train connection behavior can be achieved. The wagon is equipped with a solderable interface that allows easy integration into digital control systems.
Although this model is optimized for alternating current (AC) systems, AC wheelset replacement is not recommended as it is specifically designed for direct current (DC) operation. However, the AC slider (BRAWA order number 2222) can be retrofitted if the car is to be operated on an AC system. The car remains a valuable model for any AC system, especially if it is equipped with the matching AC wheel set (BRAWA order number 2188).
With a length over buffers of 239.8 mm and a minimum radius of 360 mm, the car is suitable for most H0 layouts. The three-point bearings and the metal axle bearings ensure stable running characteristics. In combination with the metal wheels, the car runs smoothly and evenly over the rails and therefore offers high-quality driving dynamics.
