Celebrate 100 years of the class 01 express locomotive with us! For this special occasion, we are presenting a prototypical train combination of the legendary express train E 230, which transported passengers from Dortmund to Cologne in the second half of the 1950s. A central element of this historic train was the BRAWA 46218 H0 express train car B4ye, a typical representative of the post-war express train cars of the German Federal Railroad (DB) in Era III. This car embodies the reconstruction period and the flourishing rail traffic of the 1950s and is an indispensable model for all friends of historic railroads.
The B4ye express train car was a widely used passenger car model of the German Federal Railroad. These cars were specially developed for fast and comfortable travel and offered travelers a comfortable alternative to the classic express trains. In the 1950s, they were often used in mixed train sets consisting of older coaches and modern city express coaches (yl coaches).
The E 230 express train, to which this coach belonged, connected the Ruhr area with the Rhine metropolis of Cologne and was an important connection in the long-distance traffic of the time. The route ran via important stations such as Dortmund, Rauxel, Herne, Wanne-Eickel, Gelsenkirchen, Essen-Altenessen, Oberhausen, Duisburg and Düsseldorf before the train finally reached its destination, Cologne Central Station, in the late afternoon. The locomotives often came from the Cologne depot - including the famous class 01 and 03.
The renowned model train manufacturer BRAWA stands for exceptional precision and attention to detail. With the H0 express train coach B4ye, BRAWA delivers an exact model of this historic coach, which is characterized by the finest engravings, a prototypical colour scheme and realistic printing. The high-quality workmanship ensures a long service life and excellent running characteristics on the model railroad layout.
The BRAWA 46218 H0 B4ye express train car is designed in the nominal scale H0 (1:87) and corresponds to the original in all dimensions. With a running length (length over buffers) of 239.8 mm, the car integrates perfectly into historic express train compositions. Thanks to the coupling system in accordance with the NEM standard with KK kinematics, tight curve radii from 360 mm can be negotiated without any problems.
The model has pre-prepared interior lighting so that it can be retrofitted with LEDs. This gives the car an even more authentic appearance on the layout. As the model is designed for the 2-wire direct current system (DC), it can be ideally integrated into existing layouts with this current system.
The car is painted in the typical green color scheme of the German Federal Railroad for Era III. The printing is sharp and precise, so that even the smallest lettering and road numbers are reproduced true to the original. The windows are clear and allow a view into the interior, which is provided with an authentic reproduction of the seating areas.
Thanks to the precisely manufactured bogies, the car runs particularly smoothly and stably on the tracks. The fine detailing of the wheelsets and axle brackets ensures a realistic replica of the original. Thanks to the high production quality, the BRAWA 46218 H0 express train wagon B4ye is not only a visual eye-catcher, but also impresses with its excellent running characteristics.
This express train coach can be perfectly combined with other models from Era III. Additions with other express train coaches from the B4ye or yl coach series are particularly recommended. The BRAWA express train locomotives of the 01 or 03 series, which were often used in front of these trains, are particularly suitable locomotives. Matching figures, station buildings and platform accessories can also round off the historical railroad experience on the model railroad.
The BRAWA 46218 H0 express train coach B4ye is an ideal addition for model railway enthusiasts who specialize in Era III and want to recreate authentic express trains of the German Federal Railways. Thanks to the high level of detail, the excellent workmanship and the prototypical color scheme, this car is a real highlight on any layout. The option of retrofitting interior lighting and the excellent running characteristics make this model a worthwhile investment for collectors and model train enthusiasts alike.
