Celebrate 100 years of the class 01 express locomotive with us! To mark this special occasion, we are presenting a prototypical train combination of the legendary E 230 express train, which transported passengers from Dortmund to Cologne in the second half of the 1950s. A central element of this historic train was the BRAWA 46221 H0 express train coach B4ye, a typical representative of the post-war express train coaches of the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) in Era III. Thanks to the integrated AC interior lighting, the nostalgic flair of the 1950s is perfectly staged on your model railway layout.
The B4ye express train car was an essential part of many post-war express trains and was developed for fast and comfortable travel. These cars were found in train sets with old express train cars and modern city express cars (yl cars). The E 230 express train, in which this carriage was used, connected the Ruhr area with the Rhine metropolis of Cologne and ran via important stations such as Dortmund, Rauxel, Herne, Wanne-Eickel, Gelsenkirchen, Essen-Altenessen, Oberhausen, Duisburg and Düsseldorf. The train finally reached Cologne Central Station in the late afternoon.
The renowned model train manufacturer BRAWA stands for the highest level of detail and quality. The H0 express train coach B4ye in the color scheme of the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) impresses with its fine reproduction and excellent workmanship. The integrated AC interior lighting ensures an atmospheric display on the model railway layout and gives the car a particularly realistic look.
The BRAWA 46221 H0 B4ye express train carriage is manufactured in the nominal scale H0 (1:87) and has a length over buffers of 239.8 mm. The model is designed for the 3-wire alternating current system (AC), which means that it can be perfectly integrated into layouts with Märklin compatibility. The minimum radius for smooth operation is 360 mm, which ensures a high degree of flexibility on the model railroad.
The car is painted in the green color scheme typical of Era III, which guarantees an authentic appearance on the model railway layout. The lettering is razor-sharp and detailed, so that even the smallest of company numbers and inscriptions are easily recognizable. The windows of the wagon are clear to allow a view of the detailed interior design.
A particular highlight of this model is the integrated AC interior lighting. This provides atmospheric illumination of the interior, making the model look even more realistic - especially in twilight scenarios or when driving at night on the layout. The lighting not only adds atmosphere, but also underlines the attention to detail with which this model was manufactured.
Thanks to the coupling system according to the NEM standard with KK kinematics, the car can be easily integrated into existing model railroad trains. The running characteristics are excellent, so that even tight curve radii can be negotiated without any problems. The carefully manufactured bogies ensure very smooth running and enable realistic reproduction of historical train formations.
This express train car can be ideally combined with other passenger cars from the B4ye or yl car series to create realistic replicas of the historic express trains of the German Federal Railroad. Models of the 01 or 03 series, which were frequently used for express trains in Era III, are particularly suitable as train locomotives.
The BRAWA 46221 H0 express train coach B4ye is the perfect choice for model railway enthusiasts who specialize in Era III and value authentic replicas. The high level of detail, the high-quality workmanship and the integrated AC interior lighting make this model a highlight on any layout. With its realistic color scheme, fine printing and excellent driving characteristics, this car is an asset to any collection and a must-have for fans of historic railroads.
