About the model: BRAWA presents the prototypical model of the MPw4yge baggage car, DB, belonging to Era III. The high-quality model impresses with a detailed look and high-quality features such as a multi-part interior, a prototypical brake system and an extra battery box. Furthermore, the car has already been prepared for retrofitting interior lighting.

About the prototype: There was a great shortage of baggage cars for long-distance express trains after the end of the war. However, the young DB decided to use the available funds for the construction of new passenger coaches and to solve the luggage coach problem on the basis of conversions. To this end, it used the 600 or so makeshift passenger coaches remaining in its fleet after the end of the war. These were no longer suitable for passengers due to their interior fittings and poor running characteristics. Two of these car bodies were joined together, fitted with a blasting mechanism and placed on two American-design bogies. The approximately 290 luggage coaches built from 1950 onwards were designated MPw4ie-54/55 and MPw4yg-57.
