About the Model: The popular manufacturer BRAWA presents the Bnrz724 passenger coach of the DB AG. This H0 model, with the service number "50 80 22-35 818-0," accurately represents the design of Era V. It features period-correct interior fittings and is prepared for retrofitting with interior lighting. Additionally, it includes a roof with a fine reproduction of weld seams, a complete representation of the braking system, and a short coupling mechanism according to NEM standards.
About the Prototype: For disaster scenarios, the DB always maintained a fleet of passenger coaches that could be quickly converted for transporting the injured. Since the Bundeswehr had already dealt with this issue years earlier, DB was able to use an existing design. Due to the requirement for a higher payload, constructive modifications were necessary. The most noticeable change was the roof, which extended straight to the end of the coach, earning the coaches the nickname "Steildach Silberlinge" (Steep Roof Silver Coins). Between 1969 and 1970, AW Karlsruhe built a total of 180 coaches for the DB, all equipped with disc brakes and without steam heating.
