Brawa 47634 Kühlwagen Ibdlps383 "Klosterbrauerei Alpirsbach" der DB, Ep. III Product Details

Description

About the model: The popular model railroad manufacturer BRAWA presents the DB refrigerator car Ibdlps383 "Klosterbrauerei Alpirsbach" is from Era III and has the road number 546 077 [P]. The prototypical model has fine, era-appropriate lettering and paint, profiled metal wheels on the outside and inside, and close-coupling kinematics. The length over buffers is 139.1 mm.

About the prototype: The Tnf Berlin (Tnfs38) was created in 1942 as a simplified refrigerator car design. The basic design was provided by the previously developed Glmhs Dresden, in a welded design. In contrast to these, the refrigerated cars were fitted with 300 mm thick insulation and zinc sheet lining to protect the wooden lining inside against moisture ingress. To ensure that the doors were tightly sealed, the sliding doors gave way to double-leaf hinged doors. The most striking feature, however, was the vertical boarding in combination with the typical white paintwork of the refrigerated cars. From the mid-1950s, the German Federal Railways (DB) made several design changes and modernizations to the wagons it took over. For example, the high-maintenance wheelsets with plain bearings were replaced with modern ones with roller bearings or the car bodies were rebuilt from scratch if the insulation values were insufficient. Although the wagons retained their main dimensions as a result, the conspicuous box frame now disappeared under horizontal board cladding, and later even under laminated wood panels. New developments of refrigerated wagons at DB later enabled private breweries to acquire a large number of wagons from DB and use them to transport their beer. As these were private wagons belonging to the individual breweries, they were usually fitted with the company's own advertising.
