Brawa 48340 Kühlwagen UIC Standard 1 „STEF“ der SNCF, Ep. IV Product Details

Description

About the model: The UIC Standard 1 "STEF" refrigerator car of the SNCF belonging to Era IV is a prototypical model from the manufacturer BRAWA. Thanks to its detailed appearance and features, the detailed wagon is a small special feature on any model layout. In addition to the period-appropriate paintwork and the fine imprints, the car impresses with attached grab rails and steps as well as a multi-part brake system with brake shoes at wheel level. In addition, the model has already been given the car number "11 87 082 7 060-8 [P]".

About the prototype: The International Union of Railways (UIC) included two types of refrigerated cars in its proposals for standardized car types. Standard 1 (St. 1) became the most frequently built refrigerated wagon to this day. The state railroads of Greece, Morocco, Italy, Switzerland, France, the Netherlands and Belgium procured examples of the St. 1. On the German Federal Railways, they were used as private wagons by the company Interfrigo. Meat companies, breweries and food chains used these refrigerated wagons. A total of around 6,500 units were built. In the 1960s and 1970s, there was hardly a freight train without this reliable wagon. The ice chambers could be loaded with ice sticks by hand via end platforms.
