The Lbs 589 container car is a typical example of modern freight transport during Era IV on the Deutsche Bundesbahn. Developed based on the BTmms58, this car was used for the efficient transport of pa containers for a wide variety of liquid and solid goods—including promotional containers from breweries and food manufacturers.

A high-performance classic with a modern design

With a loading capacity for five PA containers, the Lbs 589 brought a significant increase in efficiency to container transport starting in the 1960s. The use of robust materials such as ST 52 steel, a well-engineered die-cast zinc frame, and modernized buffer systems made it a durable and reliable car for daily use.

Flexible configuration for various applications
