About the model: BRAWA combines quality and a prototypical look in the model of the ÖBB Z[P] sour pot wagon, thus adding another H0 model to your assortment. The car has a multi-part brake system as well as extra attached signs and brake shoes at wheel level. The model also has a length of approx. 107 mm and has been given the road number "502 452 [P]".
About the prototype: For a long time, tank cars were unsuitable for transporting aggressive liquids such as acids. Although there were already tanks with a rubber lining in the 1920s, pot wagons were generally used to transport such goods. Wagon builders usually used a 4.00 m or 4.50 m axle base and arranged ten or twelve earthenware pots on it, each with a capacity of 1000 - 1200. The pots are held by wooden and rubber supports, the box supports are stiffened by diagonal struts. The sloping floor is partially filled with bitumen or protected with lead sheeting to improve the drainage of spilled cargo. There is a wooden walkway between the pots. The pots are sealed with rubber or wooden plugs. A high bulkhead protects the personnel on the brakeman's platform, which is obligatory for caution wagons. Many small or large chemical companies had hired such wagons from the respective railroad directorate as private wagons. In the FRG, Degussa donated its last pot wagon to the Bochum-Dahlhausen Railway Museum in 1985. At the DR, pot wagons could still be seen in use in 1990, and several associations have preserved wagons in their stock, including in Aschersleben, Magdeburg and Staßfurt.
