Brawa 49420 freight trainluggage trolley car Pwg der DB, Ep. III Product Details

Description

The DR freight train baggage car Pwg with the road number 131 916 is from Era III and is a detailed model from the manufacturer BRAWA. The H0 model has a metal switch, brake shoes at wheel level and individually attached grab irons and steps.

Information about the prototype: Until the 1920s, freight trains ran with hand brakes on all German railroads. In addition to the locomotive crew, the train crew therefore included a train driver as the highest authority, a packmaster, train conductors and shunters as well as several brakemen. The brakemen were responsible for braking the train, shunting work during stops en route, exchanging and processing freight documents for the goods being transported. For this purpose, an accompanying wagon was placed behind the locomotive, which served as a rolling place of work and rest. Only the brakemen had to sit in one of the brakeman's cabins during the journey. To complete its own development, the KPEV procured its first Pwg in 1913/14 according to pattern sheet pr IIa13a. After the end of the First World War, this design was chosen to replace the old or missing escort coaches of most German state railroads. By 1929, more than 7000 Pwg had been built from the 2nd revised edition of the pattern sheet and spread not only in the former KPEV area, but also in Baden and Bavaria, Württemberg and Saxony. Allegedly because of an attempted robbery on a train, the DRB removed the continuous running boards and grab rails from the end of the 1930s. Further conversion measures before the start of the war included reinforcements to the body skeleton and the removal of the window in the loading compartment door.
