The Brawa 49623 Uerdingen type lightweight tank wagon of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) is an impressively detailed model in H0 scale that perfectly reproduces the innovative lightweight construction and the characteristic look of these tank wagons. Equipped with fine engravings, intricately printed details and a prototypical road number, this model is ideal for model railroaders and collectors who value historically authentic freight cars. This model represents the further development of the tank cars from the war years and brings the history of freight transportation in Era IV to your layout.
The lightweight tank wagon of the Uerdingen design was developed in 1939/40 especially for the war-related transportation requirements of crude oil and fuels. In cooperation with Waggonfabrik Köln-Deutz, Waggonfabrik Uerdingen created a self-supporting four-axle tank wagon that could transport large quantities of fuel thanks to its design, but was only used partially filled on certain routes due to the low axle load. After 1945, the remaining wagons were often used by mineral oil companies, while they were used by the Deutsche Reichsbahn as rental cars for the petrochemical combines. In Era IV, the cars were indispensable means of transportation for the GDR economy and were used by the DR until the 1990s.
The Brawa 49623 tank car is painted gray and has the road number "21 50 075 0238-2". The finely engraved bogies and the detailed lettering ensure a historically accurate representation. The model is also equipped with brake shoes at wheel level, specially attached brake systems and spring assemblies, which further emphasizes the level of detail and authenticity. This filigree equipment makes the wagon an eye-catcher on any H0 layout and is a must for model railroaders with an interest in authentic freight wagons.
The tank wagon has pressed sheet metal bogies with three-point bearings, which ensures flexible and safe handling on the model railroad. The close-coupling kinematics allow the model to be easily integrated into train formations and ensure realistic driving behavior on the layout. The precise axle brake linkage and the free-standing grab irons also contribute to a high-quality and detailed appearance.
The Brawa 49623 lightweight tank wagon has a length over buffers (LüP) of 142.5 mm and is designed for H0 scale (1:87). The minimum passable radius is 360 mm, allowing the model to be used flexibly on various routes and layouts. The model is designed for direct current (DC) operation and is supplied with metal wheels, which ensures a long service life and stable running.
The Brawa 49623 lightweight tank wagon type Uerdingen is a perfect choice for model railroaders and collectors who want to represent historical tank wagons of Era IV on their layout.
