Are you looking for a historically accurate model for your CSD freight trains? The Brawa 49632 lightweight tank car brings a rare prototype from Era III back onto the model tracks—based on a car type developed for wartime needs that was later used throughout Europe.
With a length over buffers of 142 mm and close-coupling kinematics, this car is ready for realistic train formations. Equipped with bogies featuring three-point bearings, separately attached spring assemblies, and a multi-part braking system, the model guarantees the highest level of prototypical accuracy. Metal wheels, finely engraved bogies, and brake shoes flush with the wheel flanges round out the technical sophistication. Road number: 558042 [P].
The Ra tank car is based on the lightweight designs developed by Deutz and Uerdingen in 1939–40. These four-axle tank cars, with a volume of 63 m³, were used primarily to supply the Wehrmacht. After the war, Tatra in Prague, among others, continued to produce this design for the CSD. A characteristic feature is the self-supporting tank with minimal steel consumption—a construction method that led to numerous subsequent versions throughout Europe.
The authentic paint scheme and lettering, identifying it as a car of the Czechoslovak State Railways (CSD), make this model the ideal vehicle for international train formations. Whether in mineral oil trains, military logistics, or as a single car in a freight train consist—this car fits perfectly into historical operational scenarios.
Enhance your collection with a distinctive vehicle that impresses with its design, range of applications, and European history. The Brawa 49632 combines military engineering history with its postwar reuse in the former Czechoslovak Socialist Republic (CSSR).
