Description

The Brawa 50071 H0 open freight car 11, SNCB, Ep.III represents the UIC type II, which was developed in the 1950s for the standardization of freight cars of the European state railroads. With a length of 10 meters and an axle base of 5.4 meters, the UIC type II was strongly oriented towards the German pre-war developments and was completely welded. The Deutsche Bundesbahn began production of these wagons in 1954 at the Kaiserslautern repair works and built a total of 10,589 Omm54 type wagons by 1956, followed by a further 17,300 Omm55 type wagons, which were fitted with new KE brakes from 1955. These wagons remained in service until 1994. Other European state railroads such as SNCB, SNCF, FS and ÖBB also adopted this type of wagon and adapted it to their specific requirements.
