Are you looking for a highly detailed model of a contemporary tank car? The Brawa 50157 Zas tank car, featuring GATX livery and EVA lettering, perfectly depicts a modern example of mineral oil transport in today’s rail freight industry.
The model measures 187 mm over buffers and is equipped with close-coupling mechanism. It impresses with precise printing and paintwork, separately applied brake systems, an etched running gear, and separately applied handrails. The finely detailed Y-25 bogie and brake shoes at wheel level round out this high-quality model. Road number: 33 80 7956 518-4.
The Zas tank cars trace their origins to a German-French compensation program of the 1970s, under which the DR received approximately 1,250 modern four-axle mineral oil cars. With a tank capacity of 85,150 liters and a permitted wheel set load of 20 metric tons, they were ideally suited for transporting diesel, gasoline, and other mineral oils. Today, many of these cars are part of the fleets of leasing companies such as GATX and comply with modern safety standards.
The current “EVA” lettering indicates its use in hazardous materials logistics. GATX is one of Europe’s largest freight car leasing companies. The authentic design makes this model a highlight of modern freight trains.
The car fits perfectly into current tank car trains but can also be operated in mixed traffic with other Zas, Zacens, or Zags cars. Locomotives such as the BR 185, BR 187, Vectron, or Traxx round out the realistic day-to-day operations.
With the Brawa 50157, you’ll add a perfectly detailed mineral oil car to your H0 layout—essential for realistic Era VI scenarios.
