Are you looking for a typical GDR freight car with high recognition value? The Brawa 50416 Gags-v, featuring the eye-catching “Fortschritt” advertisement, is a prime example of the state-owned transport fleet of the Deutsche Reichsbahn during Era IV.
The car measures 189 mm over buffers and is equipped with close-coupling kinematics. Detailed features such as a multi-part roof assembly, metal axle supports, bogies with three-point bearings, separately attached axle bearing caps, brake shoes flush with the wheels, a finely detailed braking system, and openwork car body supports ensure a realistic representation. Road number: 31 50 199 2234-5.
Unlike the DB, the Deutsche Reichsbahn relied heavily on four-axle, covered freight cars. The GGhrsz type (later Gagmrs-v / Gags) was produced in series starting in 1966 and formed the backbone of the covered freight car fleet. These robust cars had a load capacity of 57 t and were used in a variety of applications—in domestic transport, transit, or export.
Cars bearing the logos of state-owned enterprises, such as “Fortschritt,” served not only for freight transport but also to promote the state’s public image. This model accurately captures this distinctive feature, making the car an eye-catcher on any layout.
Combines perfectly with locomotives of the 110, 118, or 132 series, as well as other DR railcars. Can also be used in mixed freight train operations or as part of the railcar fleets of state-owned enterprises.
The Brawa 50416 offers not only technical finesse but also historical authenticity—a must-have for anyone who wants to depict the railway history of the GDR on their H0 layout.
