Are you looking for a typical example of East German freight transport? The Brawa 50417 Gags-v authentically brings the rugged reality of the Deutsche Reichsbahn from Era III to your model railroad layout—complete with distinctive lettering from the VEB Weimar-Kombinat.
The model has a length over buffers of 189 mm and is equipped with close-coupling mechanism. The technical design impresses with multi-piece roof equipment, bogies with three-point mounting, metal axle boxes, separately attached axle box covers, as well as finely reproduced brake systems and openwork car body supports. Road number: 31-50-199 2132-1.
In contrast to the Deutsche Bundesbahn, the DR relied heavily on four-axle, covered freight cars. The GGhrsz type, built starting in 1966, marked the pinnacle of this development and was later designated as the Gagmrs-v and finally as the Gags. With a load capacity of 57 metric tons and a 16.52-meter-long car body, these cars were designed for versatile use in domestic and transit traffic.
These cars were used for transporting sensitive or weather-sensitive cargo and bore the markings of various state-owned enterprises, such as the VEB Weimar-Kombinat shown here. They operated in block trains, mixed freight trains, or as single cars and played a decisive role in shaping the DR’s freight traffic from the 1960s through the 1980s.
This car is ideally complemented by locomotives such as the BR 118, BR 132, or BR 110 and matching cars from the DR freight car fleet—perfect for scenes depicting domestic freight traffic or international transit to the West.
The Brawa 50417 embodies typical GDR rail transport: functional, durable, versatile—and now available in a first-class H0 model.
