The Brawa 50495 H0 SNCF IJ boxcar from Era III is based on the large boxcar, which was originally included in the types of the German State Railroad Car Association. After the DRG was founded, these wagons were redesigned according to the exchange construction principles in order to enable the problem-free exchange of exchange parts. The new coach was based on its predecessor and retained the main dimensions as well as the two-metre wide, right-opening doors, which were, however, installed in a suspended position.
Among the innovations were the riveted frame and the barrel-shaped roof, in contrast to the basket arch of its predecessors. Some cars had a handbrake with a brakeman's cab or gauge change wheel sets for the Russian broad gauge, recognizable by the white-painted buffer sleeves and the secondary class mark "r". These wagons were assigned to the "Dresden" class and were particularly suitable for light, large-volume goods such as glass products. Later revisions led to longer and softer suspension springs, which enabled higher speeds and allowed them to be used in passenger trains. After the Second World War, such wagons were used in many European countries and were only taken out of service in the 1980s, which underlines their longevity.
