Description

About the model: The DB container wagon Lbs 577, with Ekrt 212 "From house to house", Ep. IV is a model from the popular model railway manufacturer BRAWA with the road number 20 80 411 0 013-1. The H0 model is characterized by its detailed and epoch-appropriate appearance. The model also impresses with numerous features, such as a filigree, openwork frame, brake shoes at wheel level and individually attached brake system, grab rails and steps.

About the prototype: Even before the war, standardized large containers began to be transported to the customer by rail and road vehicles. However, the start of the Second World War put a stop to the further spread of the system. In 1949, DB took up the PA container system again and decided to introduce it on a large scale. While the containers were newly built, the underframes of various pre-war wagons were used for the coaches, which were available in abundance with war damage to the superstructures. The conversion included Omm 34 bogies, which were classified as BT(hs) 30 in a common number range with BT wagons from other donor wagons. After the conversion of a total of 273 BT 30s to various donor types, the exclusive construction of new container wagons began in 1952. Still renamed Lb(r)s577, the last converted BT 30 wagons left service in 1971. Numerous open and closed containers were built for a wide variety of loads, and there were also special containers for liquids, foodstuffs such as beer and the like, as well as for transporting frozen goods. From the end of the 1960s, increasingly squeezed by the emergence of containers, traffic with PA containers did not end until the end of the 1990s.
