Would you like to recreate realistic Era IV heavy-haul trains on your model railroad? The Brawa 50623 Fads 177 is the ideal car for classic Deutsche Bundesbahn ore transport—with a low-profile design, specifically developed for older loading facilities, and ideally suited for block train operations.
The model features a length over buffers of 137 mm as well as NEM-compliant close-coupling kinematics for reliable operation. With fine printing and paintwork, a multi-part braking system with brake shoes at wheel level, and separately attached signal brackets, the car impresses with its high-quality construction. Road number: 31 80 696 4 021-3.
The DB developed the Fads 177 model to complement the Fads 175 and 176 series. With its lower side walls, this car was perfectly suited for loading facilities with limited headroom. Equipped with BA 664 or Y25 bogies, the Fads 177 was particularly well-suited for heavy ore transport—robust, reliable, and time-tested.
The Fads 177 were used almost exclusively in block trains. Typical were 50-car trains with a total weight of up to 4,000 metric tons, hauled by two BR 044 or 043 steam locomotives—frequently on the Emsland route between Emden and the steel mills of the Ruhr region.
For a prototypical train composition, these cars can be optimally combined with Fads 175 or 176 as well as Fals cars. Suitable locomotives for use: Class 043, Class 151, Class 140, or Class 232—depending on the region and operational scenario.
With the Brawa 50623, you get an authentic ore transport car that closely resembles the prototype—perfect for discerning model railroaders focused on bulk freight transport from the 1970s.
