The DR 2nd class Bmhe "Städteexpress" passenger car is marked with the road number "50 50 21-43 836-8" and is a prototypical model made by the manufacturer BRAWA. The car is from Era IV. The model, on the other hand, is a 2022 novelty of BRAWA's and, in addition to a detailed look, also has numerous features, such as a true-to-the-original reproduction of the bogies, an interior that is appropriate for the era, and extra steps. Furthermore, the car has been prepared for retrofitting interior lighting and an AC pickup shoe.
Prototype information: Since 1976, the DR operated the "Städte-Express" trains, which provided a fast daily connection between the district capitals and Berlin. Destinations that deviated from the system were Meiningen, as an alternate station for train stabling, and Zwickau as an important industrial center. However, both naturally also served the respective government centers of Suhl, Erfurt and Halle as well as Karl Marx-Stadt. The trains were made up of 1st class and 2nd class cars of type Y/B 70, of which the DR was able to take over a total of 103 from Waggonbau Bautzen. They had originally been ordered by the CSD, but could not be accepted. Since the trains and their operating concept soon enjoyed great popularity, the DR needed more cars as reinforcements and operating reserves in the early 1980s. Therefore, it had a total of 12 Bmhe cars from the 1981 and 1982 delivery years painted in the eye-catching ivory orange.
