Description

LIMITED SPECIAL MODEL FROM THE "BEER CAR" SET OF 10 (ORDER NO. 50699)

About the model: The manufacturer BRAWA presents the DSB's UIC Standard 1 "Carlsberg" refrigerator car from Era III. The car impresses with its many lovingly placed details and its period-appropriate appearance. The model has close coupling kinematics, attached grab irons and steps as well as wheelsets with center bearings.

About the prototype: The International Union of Railways (UIC) included two types of refrigerator cars in its proposals for standardized car types. Standard 1 (St. 1) became the most frequently built refrigerated wagon to this day. The state railroads of Greece, Morocco, Italy, Switzerland, France, the Netherlands and Belgium procured examples of the St. 1. On the German Federal Railways, they were used as private wagons by the company Interfrigo. Meat companies, breweries and food chains used these refrigerated wagons. A total of around 6,500 units were built. In the 1960s and 1970s, there was hardly a freight train without this reliable wagon. The ice chambers could be loaded with ice sticks by hand via end platforms.
