Would you like to realistically recreate the impressive bulk freight traffic of the Deutsche Bundesbahn during Era IV? The Brawa 50691 Fals 175 brings a typical example of heavy-duty freight cars to your layout in the finest model quality—ideal for long block trains carrying coal, ore, or coke.
With a length over buffers of 137 mm and NEM-compliant close-coupling kinematics, the car is ideal for use in long block trains. The fine printing and paint finish, multi-part brake system with brake shoes at wheel level, as well as separately attached signal holders, ensure a realistic appearance. Road number: 31 80 696 1 954-8.
To meet the growing demand for bulk freight transport, the Deutsche Bundesbahn began purchasing numerous open self-unloading cars in 1969. The Fals 175 differed from the 176 series due to specific modifications in accordance with UIC Leaflet 571.3—for example, in the design of the flap closures. The cars were delivered with various bogie types (BA 664, 664.1, Y25) and operated on fixed routes.
These cars were primarily used in block trains of up to 50 cars, for example, in ore transport from the Port of Emden to the Ruhr or Saar regions. Two BR 043/044 locomotives were frequently used, hauling a total weight of up to 4,000 metric tons—an impressive sight in the railway operations of the 1970s.
Combine this car with other Fals/Fads cars or flatcars to create a realistic heavy-haul train. Matching locomotives: BR 044, 151, 232, or 140—depending on the operating region and era.
The Brawa 50691 brings precise model craftsmanship, high fidelity to the prototype, and the atmosphere of heavy Bundesbahn freight trains to your layout—robust, realistic, and versatile.
