About the model: The Brawa set of 10 consists of ten 1:87 scale bulk goods wagons. Each wagon has been given a road number and impresses with detailed paintwork and the finest printing. Furthermore, the cars are equipped with a multi-part brake system and extra signal brackets. The car has a length of 1374 mm.
About the prototype: The DB procured several types of open self-unloading wagons from 1969 onwards to transport large quantities of bulk goods that were not sensitive to moisture, such as ore, coal and coke. In addition to the Fads 176 according to the UIC standard, the Fads 175 were created, which differed according to the more specific guideline of UIC leaflet 571.3, among other things in the flap closures. The Fads 177 was also built on the same basic design. In order to ensure problem-free goods handling in older loading facilities, the Fads 177, in contrast to the Fads 175, had very low upper bodies and were used exclusively in ore traffic.
All types were delivered with bogies of BA 664, 664.1 and in some cases already Y25. The latter were also used in the 1990s to replace the BA 644 bogies, which were prone to cracking. The wagons were used almost exclusively in block trains. Particularly at the beginning of their service life, the ore transports from the port of Emden to the Ruhr and Saar regions stood out. On the Emsland line, the trains, each consisting of two 25-car train sections and weighing up to 4000 tons, were usually pulled by two class 044/043 locomotives until October 1977.
