Brawa 50856 Kesselwagen Z[P] 'VTG', DB, Ep.IV Product Details

Description

About the model: BRAWA combines quality and prototypical appearance in the model of the 2-axle tank wagon Z[P] "VTG" of the DB and thus expands your range with another detailed model in 1:87 scale. The wagon has a prototypical appearance with the finest printing and features such as extra details and free-standing ladders. Furthermore, the model has been given the road number "21 80 070 5 764-7 [P]" and has a length of 101.2 mm.

About the prototype: At the end of the 1920s, the Deutsche Reichsbahn had completed its own development of standardized replacement running gear. The wagon industry installed these running gears in countless wagons from 1928, which considerably simplified the subsequent replacement of spare parts in vehicle maintenance and contributed to significant cost savings.Tank wagons with a capacity of 19.2 m³ were one of the first types of wagon in which the new replacement components were used. These wagons were primarily used for the transportation of various flammable liquids such as heating oil, tar oils or vegetable oils.

Due to the many small orders from various customers and vehicle manufacturers, there were several small differences in the details of the wagons. What they all had in common, however, was the use of a uniform underframe with an axle base of 4.5 m and a length of 8.8 m over buffers (Lüp) in riveted construction. As welding technology was not yet sufficiently advanced in 1928, the majority of the boilers were still manufactured using conventional riveted construction. In the years 1928 to 1938, over 1000 cars were built, the last of which were not taken out of service in Germany until 1983.
