The Brawa 50958 H0 refrigerator car Tnfhs38 "Dinkelacker Brewery " is a detailed reproduction of a historic refrigerator car of the German Federal Railroad (DB) from Era III. The Tnfhs38 was developed during the Second World War as a simplified refrigerated wagon design and was based on the design of the Glmhs Dresden. These wagons were fitted with 300 mm thick insulation and zinc sheet interior cladding to provide optimum protection for the goods being transported - often perishable foodstuffs such as beer, milk and meat. The double-leaf hinged doors ensured that the loading doors were tightly closed, which was essential for refrigerated transport.
From the 1950s onwards, the Deutsche Bundesbahn subjected many of these wagons to extensive modernization. In addition to new insulating materials, high-maintenance plain bearings were replaced with modern roller bearings. At the same time, private companies, including well-known breweries such as Dinkelacker, began to acquire the carriages and use them as rolling advertising space.
The Dinkelacker brewery was founded in Stuttgart in 1888 and has always stood for high-quality brewing. Its beer enjoys great popularity not only in Germany, but also internationally. The striking Dinkelacker advertising on the refrigerated wagons made the brand widely known in the post-war period and underlines its long tradition of transportation by rail.
The 50958 refrigerator car from Brawa impresses with its precise workmanship and numerous intricate details. These include specially applied brake systems, handle bars and spring assemblies as well as openwork wagon body supports. The fine paintwork and precise printing with the characteristic Dinkelacker logo make this model a real collector's item. The model has a length over buffers of 139.1 mm and is designed for the 2-wire direct current system (DC). It has close coupling kinematics in accordance with the NEM standard, making it easy to integrate into existing train formations. The minimum radius for operation is 360 mm. An AC wheelset exchange is easily possible (AC wheelset: Brawa order no. 2187).
Era III (1949-1970) was characterized by the reconstruction of Germany and the economic upswing. During this time, the Deutsche Bundesbahn played a central role in the transportation of goods of all kinds. Refrigerated wagons such as the Tnfhs38 were essential for transporting temperature-sensitive products such as beer and milk over long distances.
