Brawa 50966 H0 Gedeckter Güterwagen Gltr, DRG, Ep.II 'Horch' Product Details

Description

The Brawa 50966 H0 DRG covered freight car Gltr in Era II, also known as the 'Horch', is based on the association designs of the German State Railroad Car Association. These large boxcars were specially designed for light and bulky loads. After the DRG was founded, they were redesigned according to exchange construction principles, which made it possible to exchange parts without any problems. Main dimensions such as wheelbase and length over buffers remained the same, while the doors were now suspended. New features were the riveted bogie and the barrel-shaped roof. Some wagons were fitted with hand brakes with a brakeman's cab and gauge change wheel sets for Russian broad gauge operation, recognizable by the white-painted buffer sleeves and the secondary class mark "r".

The spacious covered wagons were assigned to the "Dresden" class and were particularly suitable for light goods with large volumes, such as glass products. Later modifications included longer and softer suspension springs, which enabled higher speeds and use in passenger trains. After the Second World War, these robust wagons were found on many European railroads and remained in use until the 1980s - a testament to their quality and longevity.
