Description

Brawa 51016 – H0 Shis Type 3614B0 Telescopic Covered Car, SNCB, Era IV

The Brawa 51016 Shis Type 3614B0 telescopic hooded flatcar from the Belgian National Railways (SNCB) is a highly detailed model designed for use on H0 layouts set in Era IV. Designed for the weather-protected transport of steel coils, this flat car impresses with its distinctive design featuring three sliding hoods—a technical concept that has become established throughout Europe. Even though the hoods on the model are not movable, the distinctive design has been faithfully reproduced.

Faithfully and realistically rendered

The model features numerous separately applied details, finely engraved surfaces, and a prototype-accurate color scheme. The road number 31 81 466 8 170-1 is neatly printed and corresponds to the SNCB’s rolling stock. Different bogies as well as variants with or without parking and hand brakes are included. In addition, the arrangement of the nameplates has been precisely adapted to the SNCB prototype.

Technically sophisticated for safe layout operation

The integrated three-point suspension ensures stable running on the layout, even during longer train journeys or on challenging track layouts. With a length over buffers of 138.40 mm, NEM-compliant close-coupling kinematics, and a minimum radius of 360 mm, the car is ideally suited for use on all standard H0 layouts.

A European specialty car with a rich history

The Shis 708, designated the Shimmns 708 starting in 1987, was developed in the 1970s to protect coils from corrosion. In addition to the Deutsche Bundesbahn, these cars were also part of the fleets of other national railways, such as the SNCB. With over 2,500 cars ordered by the DB and additional purchases by rail companies and leasing firms, this car became a standard in European coil transport—a model with both historical and functional value.

An ideal addition to Era IV layouts with an international flair

The Brawa 51016 Shis Type 3614B0 brings Belgian railway charm to your layout and is a must-have for all model railroaders who value technical precision, realistic prototypes, and international diversity. Whether as a single car or in a multinational freight train—this model impresses in every operating scenario.
