The Brawa 51185 H0 "HO Handelsorganisation" (HO) covered freight car Gms is a faithful reproduction of an important means of transport on the German State Railroad (DR) in Era III. With its precise design, prototypical details and sturdy construction, this model offers authentic scenes on any model railroad layout.
As the successor to the tried and tested Gms Oppeln, the Gms Bremen was developed in the 1940s using modern welding techniques. The welded construction not only saved weight, but also significantly reduced manufacturing costs. With a long wheelbase of 7 meters, the wagon ensured very smooth running, which made it particularly suitable for transporting sensitive or bulky goods.
After the end of the Second World War, the Deutsche Reichsbahn urgently needed new freight wagons to cope with the increasing transport volume in the Soviet occupation zone. Production of the wagons was resumed in 1945. This design, which was referred to as Gmhs 11 in the GDR, was later modernized, including the installation of UIC-compliant loading and ventilation slides and the conversion to wheelsets with roller bearings. The wagons were a mainstay of general cargo transportation and were indispensable in international freight transport for many years.
The Brawa Gms wagon is characterized by the finest engravings and elaborate equipment. The model has different variants of the wagon bodies, which makes for a particularly realistic impression. The frame structure is faithfully reproduced and many elements such as the axle bearing covers, grab rails and brake systems are individually applied. The openwork wagon body supports and the brake shoes at wheel level illustrate the attention to detail that Brawa has paid to this model.
With the Gms "HO Commercial Organization" boxcar, Brawa offers a model that combines history and functionality. This car is a first-class choice for model railroad enthusiasts who want a realistic depiction of Era III. Its attention to detail and quality make it an indispensable element on any H0 layout.
