The Brawa 51186 H0 Covered freight car Gmh35 "T chibo " is a detailed reproduction of one of the best-known covered freight cars of the German Federal Railroad in Era III. With its true-to-original design, high-quality workmanship and eye-catching Tchibo lettering, this car brings historical charm and functionality to your H0 model railroad layout.
The Gmh35 is a further development of the legendary Gms Oppeln and was produced from 1943 as the Gm(h)s Bremen in welded construction. The design was based on modern and cost-efficient production: Lighter long beams, an improved frame structure and a longer axle base of 7 meters ensured smooth running and economy. These wagons were essential for the transportation of general cargo and perishable goods, which is why they were often used in express and high-speed freight trains.
After the Second World War, the Deutsche Bundesbahn resumed production in order to meet the demand for freight wagons. Between 1949 and 1950, around 5,925 Gm(h)s 35 wagons were newly built and integrated into the DB fleet. These wagons were an important part of the reconstruction and the emerging economy of the post-war period.
The printing on this model bears the logo of the well-known German brand Tchibo, which was founded in 1949 and quickly established itself as a leading supplier of coffee. In the early years, Tchibo relied on the railroad to transport fresh coffee and other consumer goods. The goods wagon with Tchibo lettering is therefore not only a functional component of the layout, but also a nostalgic symbol of German post-war history.
Brawa stands for precision and attention to detail, and the model of the Gmh35 impresses with filigree add-on parts such as handle bars, axle bearing covers and steps. The precise reproduction of the car bodies, the openwork car body supports and the prototypical frame construction make this model a highlight for collectors and model railroaders alike. The model has a length over buffers of 116.2 mm and is designed for the 2-conductor direct current system (DC). The built-in coupling shafts in accordance with the NEM standard with close coupling kinematics ensure a reliable connection and realistic driving behavior even in tight curves. An optional exchange to AC wheelsets is possible without any problems.
Era III (1945-1970) was characterized by reconstruction after the Second World War and the economic upswing. The Deutsche Bundesbahn modernized its fleet and relied on tried and tested freight wagons such as the Gmh35 to cope with the growing transport requirements. General cargo, agricultural products and consumer goods were reliably transported throughout Germany in these wagons.
