With the Glmrs[1364] boxcar, you can bring an authentic piece of railroad history to your model railroad layout. This wagon, which was used by the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) in the 1960s and 1970s, is symbolic of the continuous modernization of German freight transport in Era IV. Thanks to its detailed replica and numerous prototypical features, it is a must for discerning model railroaders.
The development of the Glmrs boxcar began as a further development of the Gms Oppeln and Gmhs Bremen types, which took on important transportation tasks during the Second World War and in the post-war period. From 1945, the Deutsche Reichsbahn focused on modernizing the existing fleet of freight wagons in order to meet the increasing demands of freight transport. From 1967, many of the wagons in the Magdeburg RAW were extensively rebuilt and modernized.
Major improvements included the switch to wheelsets with roller bearings, the integration of UIC-compliant ventilation sliders and the reinforcement of the side walls with sheet metal cladding. These modifications ensured a higher load capacity, improved protection of the transported goods and a longer service life for the wagons.
The model of the Glmrs[1364] was manufactured with the utmost precision and reflects all the important features of the prototype. The different design of the car bodies and the prototypical frame construction make the car a real highlight on your layout. Extra details such as axle box covers, grab irons and brake systems ensure a realistic appearance.
The Glmrs[1364] is a perfect addition for freight trains as they ran under the Deutsche Reichsbahn in the 1970s. Especially in combination with other freight cars and DR diesel locomotives, it unfolds its full effect and contributes to the authentic design of your model railroad layout.
The Glmrs[1364] "Expressgut" covered goods wagon impresses with its precise details and high-quality workmanship. As part of Era IV, it brings the atmosphere of post-war German freight traffic to your model railroad layout. A model that combines history and technology in a fascinating way.
