Are you looking for a compact, highly detailed model of the Deutsche Bundesbahn’s dust container transport during the Economic Miracle era? The Brawa 51328 Ucs 56 Kds from the DB represents the high-performance dust container car of the 1950s and 1960s—with increased capacity for light, powdery goods such as gypsum, cement, or sugar.
With a length over buffers of 98 mm and NEM-compliant close-coupling kinematics, the car can be flexibly integrated into a wide variety of freight trains. Typical features of the Ucs 56 include the unobstructed view between the two vertical containers and the separately attached container lids and valves. Additional highlights: separately attached steps, axle brake linkage, a prototype-accurate braking system, and brake shoes at wheel level. The road number is 359 126.
Following the introduction of the Kds 54 with 2×13.5 m³ containers, the Kds 56 with larger 2×17.5 m³ containers was developed starting in the mid-1950s. These were particularly well-suited for lighter, bulkier materials. Over 1,200 units were built by 1965. Following a later renumbering, the cars were designated as Ucs 909. Many remained in service with the DB and later DB AG well into the 1990s—often stationed at industrial sites or loading points.
The Kds 56 was a typical representative of the Era III freight car fleet—frequently used in the construction materials and chemical industries. The cars were assigned to fixed routes and designed for transporting fine-grained or powdery cargo. Whether in single-car service, in a silo train, or at rail spurs: the Ucs 56 Kds brings realistic operational action to your layout.
A great match for locomotives such as the BR 50, BR 86, or V100, this car is ideal for transfer runs, silo trains, or industrial freight service. It also makes a striking addition to a local freight train alongside other covered or open cars, thanks to its distinctive silhouette.
The Brawa 51328 impresses with its technical finesse, compact dimensions, and high level of authenticity—a must-have for model railroaders who value functional diversity on their layouts.
