Would you like to enhance your Era II layout with a highly detailed heavy-haul freight car from the early days of the Deutsche Reichsbahn? The Brawa 51341 SSl Cologne realistically brings the historic freight transport of the 1920s to the tracks—perfect for depicting heavy and long-load transport in the style of the Weimar Republic.
With an impressive length over buffers of 231 mm and NEM-compliant close-coupling mechanism, this flat car is ideal for heavy-haul trains. The die-cast zinc car floor ensures stability and weight. Finely detailed undercarriage, separately attached steps and handrails, axle brake linkage and axle bearing caps set the standard for attention to detail. The metal wheel sets and brake shoes flush with the wheel face round out the high-quality look. Car stanchions are plug-in and included separately—cargo is not included, but offers maximum creative freedom.
The SSl Köln is based on the rail car type that the K.P.E.V. and later the DRG procured between 1912 and 1928 according to design sheet Ce 168. With a loading length of 18 meters and a load capacity of up to 35 metric tons, these cars were universally applicable—for example, for transporting machinery, steel beams, or track sections. Characteristic features such as the truss frame and perforated metal floor defined the appearance of many flat cars well into the postwar period.
With the road number Cologne 7810, this car is a typical representative of the DRG fleet from the interwar period. Whether in formations with covered freight cars, refrigerated cars, or stake cars—the SSl Cologne adds a special touch and brings weight to any train formation.
Particularly well-suited for use with Class 38, 39, or 44 steam locomotives. Also perfect for loading stations, industrial sidings, or military transport. Thanks to its open design and the absence of cargo, you can customize the model by loading it with long loads or heavy cargo.
The Brawa 51341 combines technical authenticity with outstanding model quality—for anyone who wants to depict Era II freight traffic realistically and impressively.
