Description

Brawa 51346 H0 Sliding-Wall Freight Car Hbis 299, DB, Era IV, Dr. Oetker – Classic Advertising Freight Car Featuring a Cult Brand

Are you looking for a distinctive freight car with historic advertising graphics for your Era IV layout? The Brawa 51346 Hbis 299 with Dr. Oetker lettering brings not only a highly detailed model of a widely used sliding-wall car to your tracks, but also a piece of German brand history—on wheels and authentic.

Top-tier technical features

The car has a length over buffers of 161 mm and is equipped with NEM-compliant close-coupling kinematics. Bogies with three-point mounting, metal axle supports, openwork car body supports, as well as variant-specific design differences make the model prototypical and technically sophisticated. Brake shoes at wheel level, a separately mounted braking system, and axle brake linkage round out this excellent model. Operating number: 21 80 211 5 421-4.

The prototype – Proven sliding-wall technology from 1966 onward

With the Hbis 299, the Deutsche Bundesbahn began using side-loading cars without a lifting sliding roof in 1966—ideal for palletized goods and general cargo. By 1975, over 8,400 cars had been built, many of which were equipped with various additional functions either at the factory or during retrofits. In the 1970s and 1980s, many of these cars were adorned with advertising slogans—such as this one, which promoted Dr. Oetker.

Rolling advertising for one of Germany’s best-known brands

“Dr. Oetker” has been a staple in German households for decades. The eye-catching design on a Bundesbahn freight car adds a charming contrast to any train formation—perfect for advertising or private car collections.

Ideal for Era IV freight trains with a brand-specific character

Whether in international freight trains, on domestic routes, or in industrial transport—the Hbis 299 in the Dr. Oetker livery is highly versatile. It pairs especially well with BR 140 and 150 electric locomotives or diesel locomotives like the V90—a classic that was a common sight everywhere in the 1970s and 1980s.

A must-have for advertising car enthusiasts and Era IV fans

With the Brawa 51346, you’re adding a top-quality technical model with high emotional appeal to your layout. A slice of everyday DB life with a touch of nostalgia—perfect for varied train formations.
